From the description above you can see that right from the beginning I was passionate about finding answers and getting rid of the stigma fibromyalgia and depression had.
A lot has changed. Now it’s all ‘invisible’ diseases (fibromyaglia, depression, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, etc..) still have a stigma attached to them. I’m still passionate about getting answers and having choices.
I’ve amalgamated into The Body Principle my spiritual blog The Halcyon Soul Center. When looking for answers I’ve found you have to work not only on what is going on with you physically, but the constant pain, depression, anxiety, etc.. puts a toll on you emotionally as well. This is where the spiritual part comes in. Through Reiki I found mindfulness and meditation was a life saver for me.
Alternative healing modalities are now being recognized as complimentary therapy to western medicine. Reiki is being offered in hospitals across the United States. In Canada you can now get insurance receipts for Reiki sessions just like you can for massage therapy. So it’s fitting to not only include but learn about these modalities.
