THE TRUE MEANING OF EASTER

White-Easter-Lilies-Arts

For the past week or so I have been looking for what the thoughts of people were on the meaning of Easter.  I didn’t want to write about the biblical meaning.

“Two thousand years ago, in the Middle East, an event occurred that permanently changed the world. Because of that event, history was split. Every time you write a date, you’re using the Resurrection of Jesus Christ as the focal point.” ~~ Rick Warren

There will be enough written about that.  Nor did I want to write about the meaning of the Easter bunny and Easter eggs.  Again every year the debate will come up as to where this tradition started and also where the actual name “Easter” came from.

For Christians I wanted to read about the true meaning of this time of year.

I was walking into Walmart on Thursday and a man was walking in, or more like rushing in, beside me and he turned to me and said “you don’t want to go in there, it’s like Christmas!”  I thought another holiday gone completely commercial.  Once in there it wasn’t as bad but close to it.    My children are all grown now so I don’t buy all the chocolate anymore.  When they were small we never bought the large bunnies or a lot of chocolate, but we did have fun with an Easter egg hunt. We took the opportunity to buy them their sand toys for the summer.  We tried not to make the holiday about gift giving, but more about family.

I find this time of year is the best time to think not only about family, but also about self-worth and forgiveness.  About being the best person you can be.  For me it’s Spring check up time to go within and let go of any worry, doubts or fear that is holding me back and forgive myself and others and then let go.  In the fall, at Thanksgiving, I do a fall clean up once more.

I posted a couple of years ago a prayer for forgiveness.  It works wonders.  Here it is:

Resentment and bitterness cause masses of etheric sludge.    Use this Prayer to “let it go”!!

“I forgive everything, everyone, every experience, every memory of the past or present that needs forgiveness. I forgive positively everyone. I also forgive myself of past mistakes. The Source is love, and I am forgiven and governed by Universal love alone. This love is now adjusting my life. Realizing this, I abide in peace.”

I always try to live my life being open-minded and non judgmental.  It is not my place to judge as I have not walked in their shoes; and forgive those who judge me for they do not understand.

What is your true meaning of Easter?

From my family to yours may you be blessed with the spirit of Easter!!

Namaste!
