Yes I am overweight. In fact (I am going to say this terrible word) I am obese.  Anyone over a BMI of 30 is considered obese.  I personally think they have to fix those numbers.  For a man it is fine to have 1% body fat but for a woman we were made differently.  We are made to have the soft curves. (I am not specifically talking about myself here. Just to make that clear.)

My weight has been my nemesis my entire life.   From having to wear husky sizes as a child to plus sizes as an adult; in-between  I struggled with diet pills and egg diets,  little old fat doctors that made you drink warm milk for breakfast, with a diet pill. I’ve been to an obesity clinic that was so strict I couldn’t even use cream on my skin for the oil that my skin would absorb.  I lost count how many times I went to weight watchers. There was the Atkins, the Cabbage, the 18 in 4, and so on and so on………

Then at 48 years old I finally found what worked for me.  I stopped dieting.  You read right.  I stopped dieting and started a new healthy living plan.  First No More Fast Food and No More Processed Food.  There are a few exceptions to the rule for the latter one.  Everything I ate was fresh or fresh frozen.  No canned food because they had too much salt in it.  I ate nothing that had more than 50mg cholesterol, nothing white, no bread, whole wheat bread or rye bread on a rare occasion.

I also went for a walk every day, and meditated 1-2 times a day.

Not only did I lose 70 lbs, but my cholesterol was normal, my blood pressure was normal, I was so much happier, I felt great, and my energy level was amazing. My Fibromyalgia was remising, no arthritic pain, I actually felt young again.  I was going out dancing twice a month where there were live bands.

Then last year I booked a surgery and I was still trying to lose more weight for the surgery.  I was having trouble losing the weight.  Not realizing it, I was slowly gaining weight, but with eating well it really balanced out.

Friday, July 16th, 2010 I had my surgery.  It was day surgery so I was home the same day.  I felt fine afterwards.  I thought everything went well.  That was the first surgery, first anesthesia I have ever had.  A week later I noticed that the incisions were getting infected, at the same time my feet and ankles swelled up like balloons.  They were swollen have way up my legs.

I am not going to go into details however, I just wanted that stated.  So here I am with swollen feet, ankles and legs, and it is my son’s wedding 4 weeks away.  About 2 weeks before the wedding I find this gorgeous dress that fits perfectly, like it was waiting for me.  The shoes were a different story because of the swelling. 2 days before the wedding I have to go in for a simple procedure, the day before this procedure I have some complications, then the night before the wedding I start to hemorrhage.  The next day I put the dress on for the wedding and it’s very tight.  It doesn’t fit.

From the surgery on my health seemed to decline.  By Thanksgiving I could hardly do anything.  I felt so tired and week.  My iron levels were down to 12 and they found I have hypothyroid.  As of today  July 19, 2011 my thyroid is still not corrected properly I have gained back all of the 70 lbs I had lost, and have been insulted and humiliated by doctors and friends about my weight more in the past few months  then  I can remember.

DO YOU REALLY HONESTLY THINK THAT A PERSON ASKS TO BE THIS WAY?  DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT IF THERE WAS A CHOICE I WOULD PICK FAT? I have already seen people I know (some very close to me) die from cancer and other diseases because they were ‘obese’.  Had they not been so overweight, most of them might still be here.

I have to go in for a hysterectomy.  I was scheduled the first time on April 14th.  I met with the anesthesiologist the day before.  He looked at me and said “we have limits to abide by.”  Then he tried taking my blood pressure he had trouble with the cuff and let it pop off my arm and go flying.  He said “see and that was a large cuff” I didn’t say anything at the time but I knew it wasn’t the large cuff it looked like the size for kids.  He checked the charts and said”hmm you need to lose 20 lbs and if you do that I will do the surgery the next day.”

The next day the surgeon’s office rescheduled the surgery for May 26th.  I go in the see the doctor on the 25th the day before the surgery again.  This time she says no surgery, didn’t matter if I lost the lbs or not.  Am I fuming YES….. She said hospital rules you have to lose more weight.  I am thinking …..You were fine in April to do the surgery but now I have to lose not 20 but  50 lbs.  AND THIS YOU COULDN’T TELL ME BACK IN OCTOBER!!   Instead you spring this on me the end of May then say see you in the fall.  In the meantime, I am not getting any better.

In April I barely made it to the car before I burst into tears.  In May my car was lucky I didn’t smash it I was so furious.  I have since changed doctors.  Unfortunately I have to wait again because it is a first appointment; I am on a cancellation list though.

If this turns out to be cancer, do I have a lawsuit on my hands for wasting an entire year?

Have A Great Day!

Note: The swelling didn’t go down until the end of May 2011.
