50 THINGS TO DO BEFORE I DIE (aka the Bucket List)

Sitting in the doctor’s waiting room the other week I starting reading an article in a magazine called ’50 Things to Do Before I Die’.  Looking back at the date of the magazine it was 1996; the pre Bucket List phenomenon.  However, after reading the article, it was much more than just a bucket list.  Therefore, I want to bring back the list. Not the Bucket list, but 50 Things to Do Before I Die.  There is a difference.

If you want to know what is really important to you, then make a list.  At my age the first 15 to 20 on my list were easy to fill.  After that I really had to think about it.  I thought to myself, am I that content with my life that I cannot find 50 things I want to do?  I knew for a fact the answer was a no.  I had to separate my life, looking at it from a professional, personal and spiritual perspective before I could finish the list.

It really does reveal a lot about oneself.  I know there are many things I have wanted to do but never got around to doing them.  Why? Like most other people, life happens.  I have always wanted to play a guitar since I was a teenager.  This is on my list.  I am 50 years old and still have not taken guitar lessons.  I also want to take voice lessons.  I love to sing and I use to sing in a group when I was much younger.  Other things on my list include different types of dance lessons and a lot of traveling to different parts of the world.

There are and should be many fun things on the list.  I have that as well as a few intimidating items which will challenge me.  One such item is to publish a book.

Will I ever make it through my list?  Maybe, maybe not, it is in no particular order, but  one thing I know for sure, my thoughts have now turned into actions by making the list.

What is on Your List?

Namaste!
