Everyone who has heard of fibromyalgia(FM) know about the pain. Most people who are not familiar with FM think it is just a chronic pain syndrome. I say just because in effect it is a multifaceted disease. When I personally was diagnosed with FM my family physician did not believe in fibromyalgia. He stated it was all part of depression. I, on the other hand had a gut feeling it was not. I asked for a referral to a specialist for a second opinion. That was 2006. Now almost 4 years later the information, research, therapy, approved medications (which there was just one drug pending at the time back in 2006) has exploded. What they are now finding out about FM is so different from just a chronic pain syndrome that people have to be made aware. People also have to be made aware of what is causing this multifaceted total body breakdown disease.
I would like to put something into perspective here. I was diagnosed in July’06. It is now Feb 2010. That is almost 4 years. Not very long when you look at it. However, During this time in my own small world my sister and her sister-in-law, 4 friends, 3 work colleagues and 2 clients have been diagnosed with FM. That is 11 people just in my own world. Now take my 11 people and just say they new 11 people who have FM, and those 11 people each new 11 people who had FM and so on and so on and so on….
I have not found any statistics yet that reveals exactly how many people have been diagnosed with Fibromyaglia to date and the likelihood of this multifaceted disease exploding into everyone’s livingroom. When will they notice that something is definitely wrong here. Even our doctors who are diagnosing us are coming down with the disease. Too stressed? over worked?
Our bodies are becoming toxic….they are essentially fighting for their lives!!
What is causing this epidemic????
Think about it!!
